In line with Digital Solutions growth strategy, the goal is to double the Digital Solutions business to a total of approximately EUR 70 million by 2030. Significant growth will be sought by expanding the digital solutions’ project and product business in the domestic markets and by gradually internationalizing the product business. Lankiniemi’s appointment is the next step in implementing the international growth strategy.

— Digital Solutions teams in Finland, Sweden and Portugal have accelerated our efforts toward internationalization. We have launched the product Routa in Sweden, expanded Infracontrol Online’s foothold in Portugal, as well as tested the market in Germany and France. In addition, we recently secured some great project wins in Sweden. For example we will be part of the delivery of Trafikverket roadway lighting control system. I’m excited that in my new role I’ll be able to more strongly drive international growth together across borders, says Sami Lankiniemi, Director international business.
— We see that the key trends supporting growth in Nordic GIS market include increased demand for cloud-based GIS solutions for accessibility and collaboration, growing integration of GIS with IoT, smart cities, and infrastructure management, and rising interest in open-source GIS solutions for their flexibility and cost-effectiveness, Lankiniemi provides context for the international growth strategy.
As a part of the change, Mats Blomberg will leave his position as CEO of Infracontrol, Sitowise’s Swedish subsidiary.
— During the past year we have significantly intensified cooperation between Finland and Sweden. This has enabled cross-selling of our products and expansion into entirely new markets. Now we are also bringing our organization closer together. I want to thank Mats for his active contribution to creating new international business opportunities, says Anna Wäck, Digital Solutions Business Area Director.
Sitowise innovation process moves into the next phase
Lankiniemi led Sitowise’s innovation activities, which has been systematically build at Sitowise for three years. Innovation has been one of the main pillars of the Sitowise strategy. During this time, efforts have focused on building a Sitowise innovation culture, designing and commercializing new services, and developing technology that supports daily design work. In addition, we have deployed AI solutions to make work more efficient in a meaningful way.
Previously, Lankiniemi has worked at Green Building Council Finland, Gaia, and KIRAHub, developing sustainable building standards, digital solutions, and renovation strategies. Developing international business has been a major part of Lankiniemi’s prior roles, and he was involved in initiating and accelerating the growth of Green Building Council Finland into a frontrunner in sustainable construction.
— I believe we are precisely where the strategy aimed: we have rapidly growing new products, that complement our current product range, we are continuously improving design with technology, and Sitowise employees use AI fearlessly on a daily basis. Going forward, the aim is also to take products developed in the innovation process to international markets alongside the existing Sitowise product portfolio, Lankiniemi says.
