Infracontrol has won a two-year contract with an option for four additional years by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) to operate, maintain and further develop the national lighting control and monitoring system, ÖVB. The contract, valued at approximately SEK 41 million, also includes integration of new installations and delivery of control equipment and related materials.

- We are proud to take on the responsibility of managing and further develop such a vital national system. ÖVB plays a key role in Trafikverket’s efforts to optimise and improve the efficiency of road lighting across Sweden. This award also demonstrates our proven ability to manage complex and mission-critical infrastructure systems, says Erik Arnalid, Sales- and marketing officer at Infracontrol.

Comprehensive scope from system development to equipment delivery

The contract covers preventive and corrective maintenance, system upgrades and patching, functional enhancements, integration of new lighting installations, as well as reinvestments and modifications. Infracontrol will also manage purchase, assembly, testing and delivery of equipment to Trafikverket’s logistics centre.

ÖVB is an advanced, fully integrated monitoring system that enables remote control and supervision of road lighting across the country. It consists of central lighting control units, communication cabinets at installations, and a central graphical user interface that allows operators and maintenance personnel to monitor, operate and configure installations in real time.

By using ÖVB, Trafikverket can efficiently control lighting, monitor operational status and alarms, track energy consumption and lamp hours, and respond quickly to faults. This leads to fewer disruptions on the road network and more efficient use of resources.

Strengthening expertise in advanced control and monitoring solutions

The project will engage multiple specialist roles within Infracontrol, including system developers, PLC experts, SCADA specialists and project manager.

- We have worked with Trafikverket for a long time and hold extensive experience with several of the agency’s central systems and subsystems. This project will build on that knowledge and further expand the collaboration. Additionally, the ÖVB contract further solidifies our position as a provider of advanced control and monitoring solutions that enable our customers optimise their operations, eventually resulting in better, smarter and safer infrastructure, says Sami Lankiniemi, Director of international business at Sitowise Digital Solutions.
