Holistic climate assessments are still rare in urban planning — expert-driven studies are simply too slow and costly to run routinely. Land-use change is one of the biggest drivers of emissions, so planners and developers need better tools to see the link between development and climate.

Planect was developed in collaboration with Finnish Cities

Planect was created within the Low-Carbon Assessment Method for Zoning Plans (AVA) project, in partnership with a network of 15 Finnish municipalities. Dozens of climate impact assessments have been conducted with Planect since its launch in May 2024. 

The method development also considers the definition of a Carbon-Neutral Built Area by the Green Building Council Finland.
