Founded in 2013, Ahlman Group conducts expert nature surveys and Natura assessments, as well as provides training in nature and the environment. The company also conducts archaeological surveys and environmental surveys of power lines. Ahlman Group specialises in nature surveys of wind farms; it has experience from as many as 170 wind farms and a total of more than 1,400 nature surveys.

Biodiversity secures the conditions for life on Earth and also creates the conditions for many livelihoods. Concern about biodiversity loss is reflected in the high demand for nature-related services as awareness grows and regulation increases. These services are needed in all land use-related projects. Whether we are talking about wind turbine projects, electricity network transmission lines, various road projects or ordinary building projects on the edges of green areas or near beaches in cities, says Jannis Mikkola, Business Area Director of Sitowise's Infrastructure business area.

Together, Sitowise and Ahlman Group will produce comprehensive expertise to meet the growing need for nature surveys. The merger and streamlining of operations aim to significantly increase the capacity of nature survey services. At the same time, companies' digital expertise will be further strengthened as automated reporting features can be developed more comprehensively for Sitowise's topographic mapping application Envimobile. With the acquisition, Sitowise's service offering will also increase with archaeological services.

- By combining the expertise and services of Sitowise and Ahlman Group Oy through the transaction, we aim to become Finland's largest provider of nature services, including both diverse nature surveys and services that support biodiversity, says Sanna Vaalgamaa, Department Manager of Environmental Impacts and Sustainability Services at Sitowise.

- In the future, we will be able to serve our customers even better by providing the nature surveys needed in projects even faster. At the same time, we are developing and expanding our expert services related to safeguarding and increasing biodiversity, as we want to give our customers the opportunity to be at the forefront of the fight to prevent biodiversity loss, says Terhi Korvenpää, Group Manager and Service Manager for Nature Surveys at Sitowise.

The joint strategic goal of Sitowise and Ahlman Group is to strengthen their position among existing customer groups and to take services to a wider customer base. There is growing demand for green transition projects, and together companies can respond to it and at the same time act as trendsetters.

- The transfer of Ahlman Group Oy's operations to Sitowise Group provides an excellent opportunity to develop nature surveys and related field data collection to be of even higher quality and more accurate. Of particular interest is the development work related to Sitowise's Envimobile program, which enables nature mappers to make even better use of digitalisation, says Santtu Ahlman, CEO of Ahlman Group Oy.

Sitowise Oy and Ahlman Group Oy have signed an agreement on 12.12.2023 to transfer Ahlman Group Oy's nature surveys, environmental planning, archaeological and landscape surveys, articles and writings as well as training and guidance business to Sitowise. The closing of the transaction is subject to certain customary closing conditions and is expected to take place on January 9, 2024. As a result of the acquisition, Ahlman Group Oy's contracts and customers related to the business, as well as experts, will be transferred to Sitowise.
