Sitowise Group is strengthening its housing geotechnics expertise by acquiring Geotek Oy’s design business. At the same time, Mitta Oy will acquire Geotek Oy’s research services business and the entire share capital of the company. Sitowise has previously held a 45% stake in Geotek Oy.

- Sitowise’s strategic objective is to be the foremost expert in multidisciplinary urban development projects in Finland. Geotek Oy’s design business will substantially strengthen our housing geotechnics expertise and lay a strong foundation for us to provide every service required for urban projects, from deep underground to high up into the sky, says Jannis Mikkola, Director of Sitowise’s Infrastructure business.

Geotek is an engineering firm specialising in studies of soil, bedrock and water areas, as well as design. It was established in 1965. The company employs 12 experts working in design services, and they will all transfer to Sitowise. Sitowise will set up a new Geotechnics House department, and Geotek’s current Managing Director, Aino Sihvola, will be nominated to lead the new department. Following the transaction, Sitowise employs almost 50 geotechnics experts.

In addition to design services, Sitowise will continue to offer geotechnical research services. In conjunction with the transaction, a framework agreement was concluded with Mitta Oy on the provision of research services.

- We are highly satisfied with this solution. At Sitowise, we will have comprehensive opportunities to develop our design operations thanks to these additional resources, so our customers will receive even better, more reliable service, says Aino Sihvola, Geotek’s Managing Director.
