NTS is used by the Swedish Transport Administration’s (Trafikverket) traffic and operations managers to monitor and control road traffic across the country. The system supports the management of both planned events and incidents and contributes to improved road safety, increased traffic flow and efficient collaboration between multiple stakeholders.

Sitowise Digital Solutions AB, formerly Infracontrol AB, has held the overall contractual responsibility for NTS for many years and works together with a specialist supplier to further develop and maintain the solution. The work is carried out in close collaboration with Trafikverket and users at the country’s road traffic management centres, with a strong focus on usability, safety and operational efficiency.

During the upcoming contract period, one of the key focus areas will be the continued integration of the Stockholm Bypass (Förbifart Stockholm) into NTS. This work has been ongoing for several years and is now gradually entering a phase where the new system is integrated into the operational production environment. Once the Stockholm Bypass is commissioned, traffic operators will be able to manage and monitor this strategically important part of the road network through the national road traffic management platform.
