Sitowise subsidiary Infracontrol has won a ten-year agreement with Gothenburg Municipality for service of control and monitoring systems in the tramway infrastructure valued at approximately SEK 10 million. The procurement was decided based on price and competence, where Infracontrol’s extensive experience with SCADA- and PLC-based solutions for signal safety was an essential factor.
Stadsmiljöförvaltningen (City Environmental Administration) is responsible for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility, including the tramway infrastructure. The new agreement covers preventive and corrective maintenance as well as further development of functionality. The contract is a continuation of a long-standing collaboration. Infracontrol’s control and monitoring system provides traffic controllers and maintenance staff a clear and user-friendly platform for managing signals, switches, switch heating and related functions.
- We are proud to continue our work to ensure the operation of Gothenburg’s tramway infrastructure. Our system has been in service since 1996 and is a central part of traffic management. The new agreement gives us the opportunity to further develop the solution and meet future requirements, says Erik Arnalid, Sales- and marketing officer at Infracontrol.
The solution gives overview and control for safe traffic
The system is based on industrial PLC and SCADA technologies and offers features such as:
- Graphical user interfaces for easy control and monitoring of the tramway infrastructure and building automation.
- Smart logging and playback functionality to support investigations of traffic disruptions.
- Integration with traffic planning systems for displaying vehicle IDs and route numbers.
- Red-light violation detection for improved traffic safety.
The system has been in continuous use in Gothenburg since 1996 and has been continuously developed to meet new needs. In addition to functions for tramway operations, the system also includes building automation, enabling control of doors, escalators and elevators at stations.
- We look forward to continuing our close collaboration with the City Environmental Administration and contributing to safe and efficient tramway traffic in Gothenburg and looking at other cities where our solutions can contribute, concludes Sami Lankiniemi Director of international business at Sitowise Digital Solutions.
